Hello, I'm Marion, and I am a French teacher in Rennes.
Like you, I am an expat! I have lived abroad for a long time, in England, Mexico, and Spain. I speak fluent English, Spanish, and Catalan.
Before becoming a teacher, I was a tour guide and I am passionate about the history of Brittany and Normandy (where I am from).
As I love teaching and interacting with cultures from around the world, I returned to my studies to become a teacher and obtained the DAEFLE diploma (Diploma of Aptitude for the Teaching of French as a Foreign Language).
I started teaching French in a language center in the south of France to expats from all over the world. I loved this experience, which motivated me to open my own school.
I came back to Brittany and now I am launching WestFrench Academy, a unique concept in Rennes.
WestFrench, is the only French school in Rennes exclusively for expats.
I offer you an authentic and friendly space to learn French.
A different structure from large schools with overcrowded classes and impersonal, standardized lessons where teachers are never the same and do not know their students.
A teacher close to her students
- The teacher takes pride in knowing each student and providing them with personalized attention. Mistakes are welcome because they provide the opportunity to learn. The teacher gives you regular, constructive feedback in a supportive atmosphere.
Small groups
- The group lessons in Rennes are held in small groups of 3 to 8 people maximum, divided by level to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where each learner can progress at their own pace and feel comfortable speaking throughout the lesson.
An expat community
- More than a school, it’s a meeting place for expats, a real welcoming community where you can easily make new friends. The small-group lessons encourage interactive activities and teamwork to build connections between learners and integrate into the city. Cultural or leisure outings are regularly organized to experience French language outside the classroom and strengthen the group spirit.
Tailor-made lessons
- They are designed exclusively for expats. Each lesson is tailored to meet the specific needs of expats in general but also according to each person’s interests and goals. Every month, the teacher asks you what topic you would like to cover, what types of situations are difficult for you in French, whether in your personal or professional life, what areas or skills you want to improve, and what activities you would like to focus on.
Rapid progress while having fun
- The lessons are always based on real-life communication situations. The goal is to communicate quickly with natives and without stress. The materials used are authentic and the activities are fun and interactive. We learn while having fun! The progress is visible quickly and the goals are clear.
Sociocultural immersion
- To learn a language, you need to know its culture! The lessons have a cultural focus to learn more about the history of Rennes and Brittany as well as popular culture, Brittany traditions, gastronomy and the Rennes lifestyle !
The Colombier district
- The courses take place at La Maison des Associations, a futuristic building located just next to the Charles de Gaulle metro (line A) and Combier (line B). The Colombier district is a testament to 1970s urban planning and is also Rennes' most cultural area. The Maison des Associations hosts concerts, conferences, and dozens of sports and cultural activities throughout the year. The Champs Libres building next door has the largest library in Rennes, the Brittany Museum, and several community spaces.
